Yvette’s career began straight out of high school when she obtained her veterinary assistant certificate prior to entering undergrad at University of Miami. She was a full time student and a full time employee with a focus on nonprofit veterinary work.
After achieving her Bachelors in Science in 2008, Yvette explored the option of Michigan State University but decided that the Caribbean was a better fit. She attended veterinary school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. There, she was a high school teacher and coordinator, and pioneered many environmental projects on the island including a wildlife sanctuary in Haiti.
Upon graduating veterinary school in 2014 Yvette returned to the USA and has recently found her niche here at the Humane Society of the Piedmont. As Clinic Director, she is responsible for managing the logistics and operations of our program at Planned Pethood Spay, Neuter and Wellness Clinic.
